Roanne Program Treatment Models

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach that balances problem-solving strategies and acceptance strategies with an emphasis on dialectical processes. DBT is recommended by the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices for psychosocial treatment, co-occurring disorders, and mental health inpatient and outpatient treatment. It is the number one evidence-based treatment for suicide prevention. Read more about Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Mentalization-Based Therapy

Mentalization-based therapy (MBT) is a treatment approach that focuses on attending to thoughts and feelings in self and others – that is, being aware of what is on one’s mind and how one’s mind works, and similarly for the minds of others. Mentalization is a skill that is developed in childhood through secure attachment relationships, and is vulnerable to disruption in the face of intense emotional arousal. At Roanne Manor, we use mentalization-based group treatment to educate participants about this aspect of their mental life and how it complements DBT.
